This valley dam was built on the river Odrava from 1957 to 1961 to protect the area from floodings and to provide the industrial regions of Sokolov and Chomutov with utility water. Its earthy strewn dam is 792 m long and 22 m high. The water area occupies 745 ha with deepest points of 18 m. The lake is used for recreation purposes, water sports and fishing.
